The Lote-tree is mentioned in the Qur`'aan in Surah Waaqi`ah among ther trees of Jannah. In a Hadeeth narrated by Imaam Bukhaari and Muslim RA,. Rasoolullaah ﷺis reported to have stated: "Wash him (i.e, the deceased) with water and sidr.

 

It's boiled leaves, when drunk:

Kills worms

Removes blockages

Eliminates heavy gasses

Cleanses the head more than anything else

Reduces body heat

Counteracts diarrhoea

Beneficial in treating black magic

 

When applied as a paste by mixing the powder with lukewarm water as needed:

Relieves itching scalp and skin

Cleanses and moisturises hair and skin

Combats dandruff

Helps treat hair loss

Strengthens the roots of the hair

 

The dried leaves and fruit can also be mixed with water or milk and placed on boils.

 

A poultice made from the leaves may be used to treat abscesses.
